As you may know, I have been working on a new project that is entirely hardware based. Meaning no computers... at all! I've been messing around with this synthesizer based set, and even played a show with some friends in January at Legion Bar as well as a solo show earlier this month with D. Light at Our Wicked Lady in Bushwick. But now I am excited to release my first demo to give you a better idea of what this stuff sounds like *cough Daniel Avery*.
This track, which I guess is named Holly but I'm not sure why, is the first that I have finished so far. It was done in two takes into my 8-track recorder. One take was the Korg Volca Beats (drum machine) and Korg Minilogue while the other was the Korg Volca Bass and the Microkorg (Can you tell I like Korg?). I added a little bit of reverb fx and some panning but otherwise it went untouched. Then I guess I HAD to put it on my computer for mastering and to get it on the interwebz.
It was fun recording like this, getting to twist some knobs in a proper fashion during tracking. However, I sort of envision this album being recorded entirely live. In one take. Into an 8-track or something. I've even been toying with the idea of an "album recording party" so maybe that will materialize. Either way, expect more raw demos like this in the next few weeks as I continue to tinker.
In the meantime, I'm also playing my first ever official acoustic show at Bushwick Public House with the Sulls on April 3rd. As always its totally free. Maybe I'll drop an acoustic demo or two later this week. Also, in case you haven't heard I'm planning on releasing a whole bunch of music this year. I've already got one EP that is four tracks and is done and just waiting for release. Another album is totally tracked and is in the process of being mixed. I'm going to re-release a few tracks that I recorded back in 2014 in addition to some special side projects with members of the Communion and other artists in New York. And Postseason Franchise Records just released its first compilation Preseason Report Vol. 1!
Exciting stuff to come soon.
